Do you always go out of your way to shop at outlet malls? If you do, below is what you should know.

1. Many items are lower quality such as cheaper buttons, not as perfect stitching, lower quality fabric etc.
2. Many clothing cuts are not as fitted or tailored.
3. Ignore the Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) tag on it claiming it should be “expensive”, it means nothing.
4. Go for designer/ high end brands with track records such as Prada, Gucci, Pottery Barn etc.
5. Go for brand name sneakers that will ensure quality and support.
6. Be aware of return policies including the time frame, which may be less than the retail store. For example, some outlets don’t allow returns. Some only allow returns within 14 days, while the retail stores allow up to 30 days or more.
7. Look out for items from the actual retail store, while understanding that not all outlet stores carry the same items as the retail store.
8. Be aware of shipping policies including costs when you buy online even if the retail store provides free shipping..
9. Be aware that gift cards for the retail store may not be usable at the outlets store.
