Did the airline lose your luggage? Well it’s probably in the land of lost luggage called the Unclaimed Baggage Center in Scottsboro, Alabama where luggage contents are sold to the public at prices that are 20/80 of their value. The facility stocks five thousand items daily. They include clothes, musical equipment, sporting gear, computers, jewelry and electronics. By law the airlines have 90 days to reunite owners and misplaced luggage and 99% of the time they are successful, but sometimes they are not and the facility buys the 1% which is actually loads of lost luggage by weight and “sight unseen.” They then open the baggage, go through them, throw some things away, donate some and sell the rest. The store is a top tourist attraction for people from all around the world.
To avoid your baggage being misplaced, do the following:
1. Buy brightly colored luggage in wierd colors which make them easier to see. There are too many black ones and people innocently pick the wrong one.
2. Put a name tag with your current name, phone number and address on each baggage.
3. After each trip, remove all airline information on your luggage.
4. Lock your baggage.
5. Don't put expensive jewelry in your baggage.
6. On a sheet of white paper write your name, phone number and email address and adhere it to the top part inside of your luggage.
